Instructions for using the Flash Screen Saver

  • The following files are needed to run the Flash Screen Saver:-
  • JSKsaver.scR (included In the SAE-NIU Download) - actual screensaver file. Goes in your Windows directory. The name can be changed once downloaded.
  • msvbvm50.dll - Visual Basic 5 runtime file. Goes in your Windows\System directory. You may already have this file - check before downloading from www.jskdm.net/msvbvm50.zip.
  • swflash.ocx - The Macromedia Flash ActiveX control. If you have the Windows Flash player you will have this file already. The Flash player can be downloaded from Macromedia's web site.

Once you have installed the files to the correct locations, open the Screen Saver tab in Display Properties. You should see JSKsaver listed as one of the screen savers. If you select JSKsaver you will see the default movie playing in the preview window.

If you click on settings the following will appear:-

To select a movie, browse through untill you find the correct folder. The list of swf files will appear. Click on a swf file and it will be played in the preview window. Clicking on OK will accept this movie and close the window. Clicking on Cancel will close the window without changing the screen saver movie.

If the selected movie is no longer available, the screen saver with resort to using the default movie.

Known Bugs:

The background colour in the Settings window does not change when a new movie is selected. It changes when you click OK to accept the movie.

The screen saver is only halted on mouse movement - NOT on keystrokes.
